Marshall Govindan is a graduate of Georgetown University School of foreign Service and George Washington University in Washington D.C. Initially he had his experience in Paramahansa Yogananda’s Self Realization Fellowship in 1950s. With several spiritual experiences around 1970 he was initiated by Yogi Ramaiah. He played a great role in assisting Yogi Ramaiah in the establishment of several yoga centers across the world besides rehabilitation Yoga & Physical Therapy Hospital.

He had studied the Tamil and the works of the Yoga Siddhas. In 1988 Marshall Govindan, now MG Satchidananda, was blessed by Babaji with his vision. Babaji advised him begin teaching Kriya Yoga independently and spread the mission of Babaji. To this day, he and wife Annai Gaetane Desroches have dedicated their body and soul for the spread of Kriya Yoga. In 1991, he authored a book titled, “Babaji and the 18 Siddha Kriya Yoga Tradition” thus bringing more awareness on Babaji’s mission amongst the common public. In 1992 he established Babaji’s Kriya Yoga Ashram on an 80 acre mountain top site in St. Etienne de Bolton, Quebec. Here classes, seminars and retreats are offered through out the year.

In 1995 he retired from his twenty five long years professional career to devote himself full time to teaching and publishing in the field of Yoga. Since then, he is reported to have traveled extensively throughout the world guiding Kriya Yoga study groups and establishing ashrams in various countries. In October 1999 he was blessed with the darshan of Babaji in Badrinath, Himalayas.
